Born in London, Tenor Jonah Halton completed his opera studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, under the mentorship of Amanda Roocroft. He has had a strong affiliation with Vocal Balance since its inception and is delighted to be a fully accredited teacher.

As a performer, his recent professional work includes: Don Pelagio in Hadyn’s La Canterina and Verdi’s Ernani at the Buxton International Festival, Oronte in Handel’s Alcina at GSMD and The Second Attendant in Harbison’s A Full Moon in March at the Royal Opera.

Other professional work includes: Il Principe Aprile in Respighi's La Bella Dormente nel Bosco, Father Renterìa in McNeff’s A Star Next to the Moon and Robert in Venter's Lanternfish, both premiered at GSMD, Roberto Leicester in Donizetti's Maria Stuarda and Peter Quint in Britten's The Turn of the Screw, Steva in Janácek's Jenufa and Don Ottavio in Mozart's Don Giovanni (GSMD Opera Scenes), Cover Lensky in Tchaikovsky's Evgeny Onegin at West Green House Opera, Pasek in The Cunning Little Vixen at The Barbican and Philharmonie de Paris alongside Sir Simon Rattle and the LSO. His song work includes Three Auden Songs by Hans Werner Henze for the BBC Total Immersion series at Milton Court Concert Hall and a concert of Schubert songs led by Graham Johnson.

Future plans include: Cover Frederic in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance at English National Opera
